Families and curtain walls
Families and curtain walls
Correction of the file from last submission:
Before starting with the new exercise we were correcting the previous file. We fixed for example the stairs to attach to the next floor, we edited the shape of the slab, adding the openings for the elevators and cleaning the work grid. After having problems with the computer, we realized that the file we had was been saved as a collaborate file. After trying out different methods to fix the problem we found out that it was possible to copy the file into a new one... and we were able to continue working.
Families in Revit can be furniture, doors, windows and more. When working with families you need to load the ones you want to use. You can go to Architecture> Component> Load family. In the browser go into US Metric and choose the component you want to use. Insert in the drawing from the side bar. You can also edit the properties such as measurements of the component.

When we inserted all the furniture we added them to the group we had made previous for the walls. In figure 3 and 4 you can see how the grouping looks like. The grouping includes furniture, interior walls and doors.

The curtain walls were tricky to make since we wanted to design them similar to the realistic blinders.
The steps of making a curtain wall is first to create an architectural wall, select curtain wall. You will have the option to make it empty. Then you will make the curtain grid, which is the grid for the mullions. Now you can place the mullions.

You can create a fixed distance between the mullion grids like in figure 8.
