furniture

FURNITURE 3 D The furniture had more detail then the structure and the carpentry. The way we made them was to use 2D floorplan as a base. We extruded the furniture from the drawing piece by piece. If it was not possible to extrude directly from the bock we needed to draw new boundaries on the top. On some furnitures, like for example the bed we used the command "fillet" to smooth the edges.

carpentry

CARPENTRY 3D Making the carpentry went relatively well, the biggest challenge was that most of the windows had a different size. The part of the carpentry we made was windows, doors and railings. In the house there are several types of windows, the most common ones were the single and double ones. The difference between these two is that with the double window the glasses need to be put in a way so that it is possible to open the window. so what you would see in the section of the window is that the two glasses are put on each side of the middle axis. To make the different windows we started drawing squares an use the command "presspull". To get the frames we used the command "shell". The thickness of the frames that we used was 5 cm. For making the doors we used the same commands as for the windows. We added a door handle to complete the door. We started making the railings of the staircase in the house. We made it solid like the walls of...

structure

Iranzo house 3D - structure In a group project with Francisco we have made the structure of Iranzo house in AutoCAD 3D. This includes walls, floors and roof. The different elements are put in different layers. To transform the structure from 2D to 3D we used the command "presspull" to make solid elements from bounded areas. There were no need to use meshes. We used the elevations and sections of the house to find the heights of the different elements. Starting with the ground and the ground floor we worked our way up. To make the slab between the two floors we created a bound around the area that belongs to the first floor and used presspull to make a solid out of it. To make the openings for the windows we first made one wall (above the window) and moved it up, then we made the wall under the window. The structure did not have many complications, but I will explain one later in this text. The practice went well and we were able to manage the 3D version of autocad for this...

Information about Casa Oks

Image
Antonio Bonet was a Catalan architect, designer and urban planner. Apart from Oks house he is also known for designing La Ricarda and the butterfly chair.  The Oks house is located in the town of Martinez, in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. It has two floors, and a basement. From the main façade shrubs are connecting a path to the streets. The area of the house has a fence with a low grind. The house has a kind of patio coming from one of the facades.  A 70-centimeter high platform defines the perimeter and lower floor of the house. The inside of the house floats freely, and is illuminated by the big windows covering the wall. The house is structured with columns bearing the loads. This allowed big windows and open spaces inside the house.  (Source + pictures taken from http://www.hiddenarchitecture.net/2017/04/oks-house.html )

How to draw Casa Oks floorplans in Autocad

Image
Casa Oks is a 3 floor building, where one of them is the basement. Follow these steps to draw the floorplans. Start creating layers for the different elements you are going to draw. Ajust the thickness of the lines after which elements are the most important. Make names of the layers so that you can recognize them easily.  When you start the drawing, first figure the main lines of the floors. Take measurements from existing floorplans. If you do not have any measurements you can use the standard measurement for for example a door to know the scale of the existing floorpplans, and calculate the measurements from that. Start with drawing the main walls, and finish with less important elements, as the furnitures. Make dynamic blocks of the furnitures that are repeated in the floorplans, for example the bed and the sofa. You can create a visibility state of the sofa, that makes it possible to add or substract pieces of the sofa with onely a click. This will make it faster ...
